Aveline Hand-Thrown Terracotta Decorative Bowl

Aveline is a generously scaled, hand-thrown terracotta bowl with visible throw lines and a softly tapered profile—offered in Warm White or Washed Blue to bring sculptural form and tactile depth to a tabletop.

Ideal for: Modern Organic, Coastal Transitional and relaxed Contemporary interiors seeking a substantial decorative bowl with a quiet, handcrafted character.

Key Features

• Hand-Thrown Terracotta with Individual Character: The clay body carries the visible marks of its making, with soft throw lines that add texture to the curved surface. Small variations in size and color are part of the handcrafted finish, giving each bowl its own character within the shared design.
• Generous Rounded Form: The wide opening and gently tapering sides create a clear, balanced silhouette rather than a flat tray-like profile. This deeper form gives the bowl enough presence to anchor a broad console, dining table or substantial coffee table.
• Two Considered Glaze Options: Warm White creates a pale, understated accent, while Washed Blue introduces a gray-blue tone with more visible tonal variation. Both allow the horizontal throwing lines to remain part of the surface detail, offering different moods within the same sculptural shape.
• Statement Scale without Elaborate Ornament: At 18.75 inches wide and 7.25 inches high, Aveline relies on proportion and material rather than added decoration. Leave room around the rim so its full outline can be appreciated alongside quieter accessories.
• Decorative Depth for Orbs or an Unfilled Display: The open bowl can frame a collection of decorative orbs or stand alone to show the interior throwing lines. Keep the arrangement restrained so the terracotta form remains visible; this is a decorative interior piece.
• Orchid Styling for Washed Blue: Style the Washed Blue bowl with one of the two separately sold white orchid bowl drop-ins featured in Complete the Look. The tall stems and green foliage add height above the low terracotta form, creating a more layered display.

Care & Use

Decorative interior use only. Dust with a dry cloth. Each handcrafted piece varies in size and color. Protect fine furniture by lining the interior of the pottery when necessary.

Design & Atmosphere

Aveline has the presence of a centerpiece without needing an elaborate arrangement. Its broad opening, curved sides and smaller base create a composed outline that is easy to appreciate from across a room. The hand-thrown terracotta gives that simple form a tactile quality that becomes more apparent at closer range.

Soft horizontal lines travel around the bowl and continue into the interior, adding rhythm to the glazed surface. Warm White keeps the effect quiet and pale, while Washed Blue brings a gray-blue wash with visible shifts in tone. The glaze and throwing lines work together to give the bowl depth without a busy applied pattern.

The generous dimensions make placement part of the styling. A wide console, open dining table or substantial coffee table gives the 18.75-inch bowl enough space to feel intentional. On a shelf, check the depth and overhead clearance so the rim and interior remain visible rather than appearing tucked into a tight opening.

The shape works particularly well in Modern Organic rooms, where natural materials and simple silhouettes carry the decorative interest. Warm White can settle into a neutral composition, while Washed Blue offers a softer color accent for Coastal Transitional interiors. Wood, woven textures and pale stone provide useful contrasts to the glazed clay.

Displayed empty, Aveline draws attention to its interior lines and proportions. Filled with decorative orbs, it becomes a more layered tabletop feature; the Washed Blue version can also be styled with the separately sold orchid arrangements shown in its pairing photos. Either approach lets the bowl remain the grounding element in the composition.

The Curator’s Styling Tip

Give Aveline room to anchor the surface, pairing its rounded form with a low stack of books or a simple wooden tray. Leave the interior visible for a quieter arrangement, or add a few decorative orbs for contrast. For a taller display in Washed Blue, explore the orchid arrangements in Complete the Look.

Bring form, texture and a considered glaze to the center of your room with Aveline—a hand-thrown terracotta bowl designed for a beautifully composed display.
